For many agricultural businesses, access to credit is an essential part of successful operations; however, not every farmer knows how much debt is appropriate. As part of its objective to improve financial access for agricultural businesses, EFSE supporting partner institutions in the development of financial services which meet the demands of such clients, addressing various points in the value chain and encouraging investment by raising awareness about the most suitable products. IPC is pleased to support these initiatives and was commissioned to carry out sector-specific studies and create an informational booklet for farmers.
This brochure was initially developed to assist small and medium-sized farmers in Romania with choosing financial products that best suit their specific business needs.

By enhancing their financial literacy, readers not only strengthen their ability to compare conditions for financial products, avoid excess debt and enhance liquidity management, they also gain better access to the financial system. Using this knowledge, the target group can increase energy efficiency and improve environmental performance, which leads to greater productivity and competitiveness as well as improved working conditions and lower energy costs.

The brochure was very well received in Romania and was therefore subsequently adapted by IPC to three more markets: Ukraine, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Armenia. The booklets are available not only in English but also in local languages.
