Since completing a master’s programme in international finance, I have been fascinated by development finance and by the question: What mechanisms and what institutions are best suited to finance growth and development in sustainable ways? My professional journey immersed me in microfinance in the early days, and I went on to manage sizeable SME banks, including the ProCredit banks in Haiti and Serbia. More recently, I have advised various institutions on how to finance MSMEs, with a special focus on chronically underfinanced sectors like agriculture, renewable energy and education. There are many nuts to crack in these areas, yet I firmly believe in the transformational power of responsible finance and I am excited about designing innovative solutions with our partners. As both an economist and TVET teacher, I am especially proud of IPC’s role as a “partner for development” to enhance the skills of professionals, particularly youth. By delivering best-practice, practical training in our own training centres, we are unlocking a lot of developmental potential.
