IPC was contracted to transfer specific knowledge to IMON in the field of internal audit. The project aimed to improve IMON’s internal control framework, strengthen operating discipline and improve the robustness and efficiency of its internal audit functions. More specifically, IPC introduced the risk-based internal audit methodology to the audit department and provided internal auditors with training. IPC’s experts carried out risk mapping activities and developed extensive guidance notes and various templates.

On this basis, IMON was in a stronger position to identify and assess risks and internal controls based on a systematic audit programme. Understanding the root causes of problems and risks allows internal auditors to not only ensure compliance but also formulate stronger recommendations for process improvements, strengthening the institution as a whole.
