Improving lending processes for SME business clients and capacity building in Tianjin

2016-05-09

IPC has been working with one of the largest regional banks in north-eastern China since October 2012. Co-operation with the bank started with the implementation of cash flow-based MSE lending and capacity-building activities. Recently, IPC launched an SME lending project targeting larger and structurally more complex clients. To this end, IPC has implemented new internal policies and procedures and has recruited and trained SME banking specialists. The project builds on the bank's previous experience with SMEs with the aim of bolstering the current lending approach, which is based mainly on collateral quality, by incorporating a comprehensive business analysis, thorough risk assessment and sound decision-making approach. The project activities include everyday advisory work, trainings and seminars, and on-site technical support for all stakeholders.
