IPC is a consulting firm which focuses on analysing problems and challenges in international development co-operation and developing strategies for addressing those issues. IPC specialises in consultancy and institution-building services for banks and the management of target group-oriented financial intermediaries, so-called "microfinance banks". All of IPC's consulting assignments share a common orientation towards long-term sustainability and a focus on projects and target groups which are relevant in terms of achieving social aims and development policy goals.

Over the course of the last 25 years, IPC has developed new approaches and successfully implemented them in numerous projects in Latin America, Africa and in the transition economies of Eastern Europe. From 1998 to 2007, the company's activities centred on the establishment, institutional development and management of the 22 rapidly growing microfinance banks of the ProCredit group.

The main focus of IPC's consultancy activities - alongside the current development of the ProCredit group microfinance banks in Africa and Latin America - is on strengthening efficient credit structures in the Chinese banking sector. Under these projects, IPC consultants advise commercial banks seeking to develop sustainable capacities for small and medium-sized business lending. IPC is currently implementing advisory assistance projects of this type not only in China, but also in Ukraine, Russia and Turkey. At the project design stage, IPC consistently seeks to set high standards in terms of the developmental and social impacts which are to be achieved. During project implementation, the company then brings its extensive expertise in management, banking and finance to bear in order to ensure the success of all of measures implemented.

Since the end of 2008, IPC has also been active in the area of energy efficiency. Here it provides support to commercial financial institutions in the development and implementation of new credit products with the goal of financing energy efficiency measures in small and medium-sized businesses and private households.

Thanks to the success of the projects which IPC has implemented, its consultancy services are highly regarded worldwide. Our main clients are major international development organisations such as the World Bank Group (including the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the IFC), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the KfW Banking Group. Other clients include various European and American organisations (Stichting DOEN, the Gates Foundation, FMO and BIO) and financial institutions and development banks in emerging markets and developing countries.
