IPC is a consulting firm which focuses on projects in the field of international development co-operation. IPC specialises in consultancy and institution-building services for financial institutions. All of IPC's consulting assignments share a common orientation towards long-term sustainability and a focus on target groups which are relevant in terms of achieving social aims and developmental or environmental policy goals.
Since the early 1980ss IPC has focused on issues and projects in the financial sector. The shared goal of these projects has been to establish or strengthen financial institutions that aim to provide micro businesses and SMEs in transition economies and developing countries with reliable access to financial services, above all credit, offered at fair and affordable terms and conditions.
In 2008, IPC started to engage in the field of sustainable energy finance. Since then, we also have been working on assignments aimed at reducing energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions through the introduction of lending services at financial institutions that promote investments in energy efficiency and renewable energy (EE/RE) technologies by both households and businesses. Moreover, we have implemented a series of projects aimed at reducing the environmental impact of financial institutions - both in terms of their physical infrastructure and business processes as well as in terms of the products and services they offer. In 2010 IPC set up an education finance and skills development department, to pool IPC's already existing strong expertise in the provision of capacity building services. IPC education experts provide advisory services to international financial institutions as well as local financial institutions in developing education finance services. With regard to skills development, in addition to the distinct basic and advanced training components related to MSME lending contained in all IPC advisory projects, IPC experts provide targeted training measures within the framework of specialised skills development projects. Since 2011 these also include blended learning solutions with a highly sophisticated didactic approach. Our proprietary e-learning platform, which was specially designed to support bank consulting projects in developing countries and transition economies, transfers knowledge effectively and efficiently.
Thanks to the success of the projects which IPC has implemented over the years, its consultancy services are highly renowned worldwide. Our most important partners and clients are major international development organisations such as the KfW Bankengruppe, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the World Bank Group including the International Finance Corporation, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Development Bank of Austria (OeEB) and the French Development Agency (AFD). Other clients include various European and American organisations (Stichting DOEN, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, FMO) as well as commercial banks, financial institutions and development banks in emerging markets and developing countries.
